GL@D at Daimler
In Stuttgart, Germany, the 24th of September marked the first meeting of Daimler Group’s new GL@D network, which stands for the Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Network of Daimler. The goal of the network is to address homosexuality in the workplace. “If someone feels the need to hide their true selves at the workplace, there is a lot of lost energy,” said network coordinator Johanna Koesler. “We want to encourage people towards greater transparency, but of course, not force anyone to come out of the closet.”
The network is not exclusively for homosexual employees. “We are open to all, which draws increased interest in the topic,” said Koesler. The network currently has about 40 members in the Stuttgart area, and has evolved from a private gathering of Daimler employees. With the official establishment of GL@D as an employee network, it is now supported by the diversity management of Daimler AG.
