Swedish democrats propose to pay immigrants if they leave the country

Sweden democrat leaders in the city council of Malmö have proposed to pay immigrants if they leave the country. The party has proposed a range of policies to clamp down on immigrants in the Skåne region, including a total ban on immigration and a stop to publicly funded integration programmes.
There have been similar projects in Sweden before where immigrants who wanted to return to their countries of origin could get 30,000 kronor from the government to help their way.
Other parties on the council have rejected the idea of paying immigrants to leave. „A policy that creates a ‚them‘ and an ‚us‘ is nothing for us,“ said Daniel Persson, chief of staff for the ruling Social Democrats on Malmö Council.
Diversity Expert, Micheal Stuber worries at this one sided stance on migration. “Paying immigrants to leave Sweden, or any other country, ignores the positive contribution migration has on a country’s economy and society. Moreover, it blatantly goes against the very essence of EU integration. It is obviously a step in the wrong direction.”
