Ramadan Countdown Calendar

A Jewish food entrepreneur from Manchester designed an advent-style calendar for this month Ramadan, which has started on the 13th September and will last until 12th October. Under each of the 30 wickets, lies a halal chocolate and a question on the Islam. 15% from the sale will go to Islamic Relief. Mr. Finlay, the entrepreneur, is known for his diverse ideas in niche markets. Next to his main business, selling kosher food, he started early to offer vegetarian, kosher and halal versions of Haribo products as well. Recently he added halal food to his range of products. „I was sitting in Zurich airport waiting for a flight when I got talking to an Egyptian man who said that he would love to eat the sweets but couldn’t because of his beliefs,“ he recalled.
Mr Finlay’s entrepreneurial determination paid off and in addition to overseas sales, more than 150,000 packets are also sold in the UK every month. Mr. Finley’s entrepreneurial spirit and his intuition for diverse niche markets are a good example for being successful without having to serve the needs of mainstream markets.
