National Grid’s ‘Focus on Fathers’

Knowing that the main focus of gender diversity within the workplace is on women, National Grid in partnership with Opportunity Now sponsored an event called ‘Focus on Fathers’. The aim is to make the workplace a diverse place that offers flexible/agile working with equal pay a core organisational offering, not just to women.
The event brought together Inclusion and Diversity practitioners, employee networks and fathers to explore issues, swap experiences and identify solutions. Catherine Hamilton, UK Inclusion and Diversity Manager, stated, “There is an increasing demand for organisations to develop policies and practices that benefit fathers. This event shared best practice, the business benefits of work-life balance initiatives for dads, addressed new policy directives and facilitated discussion to assist in reaching out to dads.” Over 100 employees attended or joined the event by video conference.
