Global Head of Diversity receives Chairman’s Award
Mona Lau, Global Head of Diversity at UBS, received the prestigious Chairman’s Award for „Entrepreneurial Leadership“ at UBS this year. According to UBS, the reasons for this decision were that „Mona has demonstrated energy, drive and commitment in advancing UBS’s diversity agenda globally with increasing success. Her vision and strategy have helped UBS to attract top talent through creating a more inclusive culture and have helped build the UBS brand among diverse talent by visibly positioning UBS as an open and inclusive work environment.“
The groupwide, global diversity initiative at UBS began in 2002 under Mona Lau’s leadership. At this time, she established ten regional diversity boards comprised of senior management in each major market to ensure that the global diversity strategy was driven by local leaders to meet local business and workforce needs. Since 2004, the focus has been on integrating diversity into day-to-day management processes such as recruiting, talent development and the annual performance measurement and management process. Diversity is now a mandatory competency and all senior managers are expected to set annual personal diversity objectives. Most recently, there has been an increased focus on the commercial value of diversity through a number of events and initiatives that cater to diverse clients around the globe.
UBS presents Chairman’s Awards for outstanding achievement during the course of the year as part of the annual Senior Leadership Conference. In 2006, the awards acknowledge eleven individuals who have contributed notably to the firm’s success in three categories – Partnering for Growth, Client Focus and Entrepreneurial Leadership.
