McGraw Hill and Mentoring European Women

The new European Mentoring Programme at the McGraw Hill Companies is being spear-headed by a group of volunteers from the company’s Women’s Initiative for Networking and Success (WINS) Employee Resource Group. The programme pairs 22 talented female employees with 22 female leaders from within the McGraw-Hill Companies. As part of their networking in the mentoring programme, participants find out more about business divisions outside of their job scope. WINS has been sponsoring mentoring programmes for both male and female employees globally for the past five years at the McGraw-Hill Companies. So far, over 600 mentees have benefited from this amazing learning experience, and the success story is continuing, with the spread of a regional mentoring culture through programmes launched in Europe and Latin America.
This second edition of the European mentoring programme is unique as it focuses for the first time solely on women’s development. The main purpose of this mentoring initiative is to facilitate interactions within the community of women at McGraw-Hill so that talented women may receive guidance on how to achieve their career goals. By grooming the next generation of female leaders, McGraw-Hill aims to help close the gap between men and women at the board level of corporations around the world. “It is remarkable how mentorship initiatives have been upgraded to the international level, thus responding to economic trends and changes in the corporate arena”, comments Ms. Perry Hwang, international project manager at European Diversity Research & Consulting. The quality of good practices and the quantity of innovative program components have significantly risen over the past few years.
